Once again another pic for the 100 Themes Challenge, # Standing Still. Pictured above is a character named Samantha from my Fallen Series. Sam is a ghost who was murdered decades ago by her husband (he ripped out her eyes and heart so she would never see/love another man) but she has followed him through the years and continued to take care of him, much as she had done hen she was his living wife, even as she watches him continue to marry and murder. After her husband's (supposed) suicide, Sam feels lost and eventually begins to haunt Heather, whose apartment is just below the dead lover. The title comes from not just Sam being stuck in between the two worlds as a ghost, but her inability to realize what happened to her and to blame her husband, the man she devoted her whole life to, for taking that life.
Overall, I'm pleased. I love the subtle, happy look that she has contrasted with her torn, grisly flesh, a contrast played even more in the text itself. Besides, what better time to post a ghost's portrait than on Halloween? Perfect timing, don't you agree, Sam??
